*{{Discuss | who = Allan | question = Therapeutic abdominal paracentesis:  The pick list has diagnostic but not therapeutic paracentesis.  When I put it in using the component method, I put "therapeutic intervention on Abdominal or Pelvic Cavity" and then I put "drainage, evacuation"  which seems OK.  The only question I have is how do you differentiate this paracentesis from an open drainage procedure of the abdomen to drain an abscess or blood in the OR?  Just checking.--[[User:LKolesar|LKolesar]] 13:01, 2018 June 28 (CDT)
*AG REPLY -- yes, that's right.  I've added this to the text on this page.  As for inability to distinguish surgical from nonsurgical drainage procedures, you're right Laura.  This is one of the consequences of NOT including the next layer to CCI coding (i.e. "how" the thing was done) }}
