Includes
- Use this for removal of something "natural" from a part of the body such as:
- loose body
- stone (e.g. gallstone, kidney stone)
- tooth
- gland (e.g. parotid gland)
- impacted stool
- calcium deposits
- vascular thrombus or embolism or atheroma which includes
- endarterectomy
- thrombectomy
- embolectomy
- removal of thrombus or embolism from within a blood vessel For an EVT, combine with (T) Intracranial Vessels for Cerebral infarction/stroke due to embolism or Cerebral infarction/stroke, NOS there is no need to code the cerebral angiogram as it is part of the procedure, however, if a patient goes for an EVT and a thrombectomy is not done then you would only code the cerebral angiogram.
Excludes:
- Removal of cancerous or other abnormal tissue, a mass or tumor, instead use one of these (the ICD10 codes will indicate what was removed):
- Removal of Foreign Body)
