*AG REPLY TO TINA:  Let's make this a soft crosscheck where the popup message is: "Acute respiratory diagnoses in a person on chronic mechanical ventilation is possible but RARE.  Are you certain both of these codes are appropriate here. Note that we do NOT allow [[Respiratory failure (insufficiency) NOS, acute]] with chronic vent dependence.  In this case, consider the pneumonia (or other specific acute respiratory diagnosis) as the primary."
