This page is about the transition of collection units at STB to accommodate the new COVID unit.
Background
STB is opening a number of beds on STB_A7S and STB_A7W. Patients from our usual STB_E6 unit will move there, and the physical E6 location will become the COVID ward.
Date of change
- 2020-Mar-25 - last client moved out of STB_E6 to STB_A7_B units
- 2020-Mar-26 - STB_E6 will be the new COVID-19 ward (STB_E6_C)
- 2020-June-11 - B service patients physically at STB_A7_B moved back to STB_E6
- 2020-October-15 - An Outbreak of covid is declared on Medicine Unit E6
- 2020-Octber-17 (2345) - 10 beds open up on B4NO to accommodate B Medicine patients

Transition plan A - March 25/26, 2020

- we add Boarding Loc entry "STB_E6_B" that will stay active only during this transition.
collector instructions Plan A
E6 / A7 Collector
- S5 (STB_E6) laptop
- STB_E6 patients already on the laptop will automatically have their Service/Location changed to STB_E6_B
- patients who are discharged while still on that ward don't require further changes
- patients who are moved to one of the A7 locations should
- have their Service/Location changed to STB_A7_B
- a Boarding Loc entry added for the first part of their stay on STB_E6_B
- a move to "STB - Home medicine ward" should be added with the time they were moved
All other collectors
- patients with STB_E6 in their Previous Location or Dispo fields will automatically have those changed to STB_E6_B
- if the patient was transferred there before the move date, you can leave that. If they were transferred there after the move date but before we put the new entries in place, you may need to change the dispo to STB_A7_B. Don't worry too much about this, we can fix it at the back end, but if you notice it please fix.
- Pamela does not follow patients from A7/A6 locations that are discharged to B5 or IMCU locations. The B5/IMCU collector enters a new profile for these patients.
E6_C (COVID-19 ward)
- STB_E6_C is the designated covid ward at STB at this time.

A6GY Suspect COVID Ward
- A6GY (and could include other units on 6th floor) is designated for covid suspects.
- Mixed of patients - Medicine service A & B and other services such as surgery or family medicine in this ward.
- Only collect Medicine Service patient admitted in this ward.
- End date June 11, 2020
A medicine service patients on A6GY
- A6GY- patients admitted to A medicine service in this unit are entered on the S5 (STB_E6) laptop.
- Service Location: STB_E5
- in TMP Boarding Loc will be generic ward with date and time arrived on A6GY. In the Q column enter in A6GY
- If A service patient is physically move from A6GY to "STB_E5" ward, the S5 (STB_E6) laptop will follow as a continuous profile AND
- in the TMP Boarding Loc enter Home ward with date and time they physically arrived there.
- patient's with negative test results are either physically move to home medicine service wards or transfer to other service location or discharged home.
- patient's with positive test results get transferred to either: STB_E6_C, STB_MICU.
- for these transfers, you will create a new profile for either STB E6_C or STB MICU.
- transfers to E6_C a new profile is required and is collected on the S5 (STB_E6) laptop
- Service Location: STB_E6_C
- if patient remains on A6GY then no changes are required
B medicine service patients on A6GY
- A6GY patients admitted to B medicine service are entered on S5 (STB_E6) laptop
- Service Location: STB_A7_B
- in TMP Boarding Loc will be generic ward with date and time arrived on A6GY. In the Q column enter in A6GY
- If B service patient is physically move to "STB_A7_B" ward, the S5 (STB_E6) laptop will follow as a continuous profile AND
- in the TMP Boarding Loc enter Home ward with date and time they physically arrived there.

Transition plan B - June 11, 2020
collector instructions for B service patients returning from A7_B to E6_B
- For patients discharge on or before June 11, 2020, keep Service/Location = STB_A7_B
- For patients not yet discharge and move to STB_E6_B
- have their Service/Location changed from STB_A7_B to STB_E6_B
- a Boarding Loc entry added for the part of their stay on STB_A7_B
- a move to "STB - Home medicine ward" should be added with the time they were moved
- New patients admitted starting June 11,2020 have Service/Location = STB_E6_B
Reporting
- STB_E6_B and STB_A7_B are reported together.
- STB_E6_C is reported as a separate ward.
