The WBC field is used to collect a patient's White Blood Count level for an APACHE II & MOST. Refer here for info on which value to use and how and when to collect this.

WBC for ICU - APACHE II

Select the WORST deviation from normal during the first 24 hours in ICU.

is recorded as a percentage, record per 1000 e.g. 10.0

WBC Medicine MOST Score

  • Select the value that is at or closest to the time that the medicine service physician accepts the patient to the medicine service.

Data Integrity Rules

The WBC must be >=0.02 or <= 517. The synching to the CCMDB.mdb will fail if it is outside of that range.


APACHE Missing Value Rule

  • if not done or not available, record normal. Use 4.5.
  • Normal WBC - international units as 4.5 to 11.0 x 109 cells per liter.
