Separation of date and time fields

This page explains why we encode date and time in separate fields for some values.

Reasons

• our legacy PDA data collection tool implemented date and time as two separate fields
• there are more convenient user interface elements in MS Access to enter the two separately (DatePicker tool / calendar)
• they can easily be combined during analysis

• L_Log.Start Date field / Start Date field / Start Date and Time
• L TmpV2.obsdate and obstime
• L TmpV2.date_var and time_var
• original Admit date and time
• original Transfer Ready date and time
• original Discharge date and time
