*AG REPLY --- this code is DISTINCT from all the other alcohol codes that relate to acute or chronic abuse, intoxication, etc.  It exists along with its "cousins":
Tobacco use
Illicit drug use
just to indicate use.  But, given that neigher tobacco or alcohol is illegal, and we already have codes for abuse of those substances, I now think we SHOULD remove them.  However, we should retain Illicit drug use.  OK?
