remaining questions

  • In the BIPAP/CPAP Task, bipap was only indicated if it was a new start. I do not think bipap or cpap was counted if the patient was on bipap or cpap routinely at home. Anyway, we should check with Julie if it is OK to count all the bipap or cpap now with this new entry? Maybe there was a reason she needed the "new starts". Just checking. --LKolesar 07:12, 2018 December 13 (CST)
    • The first part of this question was addressed by changing this to be CCI collect first mode. However, still a question whether to only code new ones, or all that happen. Julie, how do you use this?
      • In Med report the BIPAP/CPAP Task is just counts of patients having it while in ICU noninvasive CPAP/BIPAP is in terms of days - both in acquired or during the stay. Question of new start for admit CCI - I am not sure because the admit CCI is new. Trish may want to comment.--JMojica 16:58, 2018 December 31 (CST)

  • What date is to be entered?
    • same as Admit to unit date which would imply they came in with it.
      • This will somewhat depend on the answer to whether to code this only for new starts... leaving for now. Ttenbergen 16:30, 2018 December 31 (CST)

  • AG --- regarding whether it'd be an Admit Procedure or Acquired Procedure --- it's only be an admit procedure if, as per usual rules, it's directly related to the reason for admission. Thus, for a person admitted for DKA but who has OSA and uses their CPAP machine at home that they brought with them to use in hospital, the CPAP use is a procedure but it's not related to the admission. So, just as if such a person was put on CPAP for their OSA in the hospital by the RTs using a machine supplied by the hospital, it would be an acquired procedure.
    • This depends on the resolution to new only question as well... Ttenbergen 16:30, 2018 December 31 (CST)
