- when a wound closure/anastamosis itself is INTACT (e.g. sutures, staples, etc all in place as they should be), but there is copious drainage from it (e.g. between the staples). Thus, an anastomotic leak with the closures intact is included here (rather than as Iatrogenic, dehiscence or rupture or disruption, surgical wound NOS.
