Open Lung Biopsy
An open lung biopsy is performed via a surgical incision in the chest. When they open the lung area, they use a scope to examine the lung which is a thoroscopy.
Needle Lung Biopsy
A needle lung biopsy, or percutaneous lung biopsy, is performed by passing a biopsy needle through the skin into the lung. May or may not require fluroscopic or CT guidance. This is not a diagnosis we code (List of Diagnoses we didn't code in old schema#Surgeries_or_procedures_not_currently_coded.
Bronchoscopic Lung Biopsy
A bronchoscopic lung biopsy is performed using a bronchoscope, and may or may not require fluoroscopic or CT guidance.
