Pay week:

Starts on a Friday to end on the following Thursday

Work hours

Actual hours "at work" for a shift:

  • MNU 8.25 hours
  • CUPE 8.00 hours

Actual hours "paid" for a shift:

  • MNU 7.75 hours
  • includes:
    • "two" 15 minute paid breaks and
    • "one" 30 minute unpaid meal break
  • CUPE 7.50 hrs
  • there are no half day shifts unless posted by management.

Hours of work can be:

7.75 hour Day shifts only.

There are no self scheduling of shifts less than 7.75 hrs. Article 1404: A shift is 7.75 consecutive hours of work exclusive of meal times, 30 minutes(unpaid break) and inclusive of two 15 minutes rest periods (paid breaks).

Start and end times allowed:

  • 07:00 to 15:15 hrs
  • 07:30 to 15:45 hrs

Procedure if unable to fulfill entire required 7.75 hrs shift

There may be certain circumstances that occur where a staff member is unable to fulfill the full day of their 7.75 hrs shift for a number of reasons such as sick, family sick, appointment, etc. Please be aware that you must always notify the Manager, Trish of this, either by email or phone call. This is the proper thing to do guys!! There are legal implications that could be a problem for you if you submit false records of hours worked that are recorded in payroll and it does not match with where you really were. This was brought to our attention by HR and union in the past, so this is a reminder to staff. Example: if you have a car accident during a time where the timecard submitted shows that you were at work, you could have a problem backing up your claim. Also the other way around, if you are at work on a day that is not documented in payroll and you have a accident at work, again, no record to back up your claim. Your union would not be able to back you up either because you are not following boundary of your own collective agreement. Main office if pretty reasonable, so guys, I trust you will do the proper thing and communicate with mother ship here! Thank you. Trish Ostryzniuk 18:55, 2012 November 1 (EDT)
