Legacy Content

This page contains Legacy Content.
  • Explanation: We tried to implement this but could not reach consensus from collectors. We implemented anyway but since most would just delete the content we eventually stopped automatically populating this to save collectors the step of deleting this.
  • Successor:

This page is used to discuss what default content for the Notes field works best to help collectors keep track of collection status of a given patient, in a manner that is somewhat consistent between collectors, to help when people have to cover for each other.

You will still be able to add any other stuff to the notes field as you might find useful.

I have implemented the following, please discuss here if we need further tweaks.

The abbreviation r/v may be what St.B uses for reviewed.

mm/dd(HH:mm)r/v
mm/dd(HH:mm)CCI
mm/dd(HH:mm)pharm
mm/dd(HH:mm)TISS

Order of Items

  • I like the tiss checked part first so I can see it when I have the patient list open to keep track of which tiss sheets I have already checked while on the ward without opening each. --Lois Bilesky-- 07:34, 2018 October 25 (CDT)
  • As a medicine collector, I would keep the time and date first, as we have no use for the TISS or Pharm counts. Would there be a different list for medicine? We would only need read to and labs.Mlagadi 08:21, 2018 October 25 (CDT)
  • I totally agree with Michelle. I put the "read to" date and time absolutely first, so that when I go to review charts after the first time, I will sort my list by notes. When I put the date and time in first it shows on the list, so I can see it. If this were to change, then I would no longer be able to sort the list, and be able to easily see that date and time. I also agree with Michelle in that the medicine collectors have no use for the tiss, pharmacy, and labs. In fact, for us medicine collectors, that would just clutter up the notes field. As someone who uses the notes field extensively, I personally need all the room I can get it that field. DPageNewton 08:31, 2018 October 25 (CDT)
    • NOTE: Labs are to be collected as CCI's for BOTH ICU & Medicine.Trish Ostryzniuk 12:58, 2018 October 26 (CDT)
  • Obviously you can't make both ICU and medicine collectors happy. Why not just let us do our own thing. We have managed fine till now and it does not take very long to type in what we want. --Lois Bilesky-- 14:10, 2018 October 26 (CDT)
    • Tsk. I always try to make both medicine and CC happy, and it's far from obvious that it can't be done. Well, except maybe that it is impossible to make some people happy, period, but I don't really want to think that way :-). Doing your own thing means whoever has to cover doesn't know what's going on. The question comes up again and again, so other collectors are finding this an issue. Have you done much vacation coverage for others lately? That's where this seems to come up... Ttenbergen 23:18, 2018 October 29 (CDT)
  • I am trying to set the default, but what is edited after that would be pretty flexible. So, I could put the TISS line first if that helps the ICU folks. Since that line would not be required by Medicine, they could just delete it, which would then put the general date at the top (where it would show without opening notes). Would that work for everyone?
  • Just a suggestion: instead of "read to" and "tiss checked to" use "r/v" and "tiss" (along with the date and time entry) these words alone should suffice and it leaves more room in the first line for other important entries that are specific to the patient. Also,if possible, can you put the pharm and labs entries on a second line? --LKolesar 07:42, 2018 October 31 (CDT)
  • It is hard to standardize this across all collection areas and everyone's preferences, so I think making a default with all the above options is a good place to start. If the default can be customized (ex. some items can be deleted, or rearranged in a different order) than that would accommodate the individual needs of collectors. The idea is to create an efficient way to indicate where we've left off, because this will not be as obvious when we transition ICD10/CCI collection. We discussed this in our office and I 'tweaked" the above proposal again. Con also indicated that it is helpful to have the date written as (mm/dd) for sorting purposes on the main page. Can the date be customized as well?--Jvelasco 13:47, 2018 October 31 (CDT)
  • Having seen the implemented default, and reading everyone’s suggestions again, I am proposing the above tweak. This way, it’s a little shorter. Medicine collectors can delete the tiss and pharm if they want. CCI and pharm are together, and the r/v is at the top, which seems to be the common preference. I also changed the placement of the brackets, so it looks a little less busy. This is just an idea to clean it up a bit more, so please feel free to add your suggestions and tweaks.--Jvelasco 11:34, 2018 November 13 (CST)
