Stroke, NOS should only be used when it is not clear if the stroke was hemorrhagic or ischemic. If the actual type is known, then the appropriate code should be used, so also coding Stroke, NOS only adds ambiguity.

So, we were hoping to have a cross check to prevent combined coding of Stroke, NOS. However: If you knew they had a hemorrhagic stroke, but they may or may not have also had an ischemic one, then the correct way to code would be to use Stroke, NOS. So, this check is not possible.
