This page elaborates on some similarities and differences to the usual Definition of a Critical Care Laptop Admission.

  • Since we are getting rid of Accept and Arrive DtTm and will now derive these from the first Service tmp entry, how does this page need to be updated? Presumably this means we are using special rules for the Service tmp entry for these as well? Ttenbergen 11:56, 2022 April 21 (CDT)

  • STB CICU/ICCS Cardiac Surgery patients will have an Arrive DtTm that is effective when the pt actually arrives in the ICU from the OR. These pts will not require an Accept DtTm. If a Cardiac Surgery patient is accepted back to the ICU after they have already been transferred to the ward (CR4), then the accept time is when the ICU has agreed to take them to the ICU, and they are considered a boarded pt. from that time (TISS 28 will be required for the boarded time)

Background

This is on a page of its own because it is relevant to several other topics, and this way it can just be linked.

As of Change to start collection at accept rather than arrive time, we simplified the Definition of a Critical Care Laptop Admission to start at Accept DtTm. The local collector pointed out that these patients often spend a long time on cardiac wards where we don't collect while under the cardiac service. If we used the same definition for this population as for other ICUs this would all need to be collected as boarded time, and we would essentially start collecting on cardiac wards as well.
