Use code for serotonin syndrome?

We don't have a code for [Serotonin Syndrome https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonin_syndrome].

Do not use the TCA (Tricyclic) Poisoning (old)code for Serotonin Syndrome indiscriminately because it can have other causes and symptoms. If TCA (Tricyclic) Poisoning (old)is a factor in a case of Serotonin Syndrome, of course code it.

Keeping Tricyclic code for now

  • Tricyclic antidepressants have been mostly replaced by newer antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (NRIs). They occasionally use tricyclics if other meds are not working.
  • If a patient overdoses on an antidepressant we do not have a specific code for this.
  • While we can use the "other" code, I think it would be of more value to put a general antidepressant overdose code and maybe take out the tricyclic one. (in the poisoning section). --LKolesar 13:17, 2016 August 17 (CDT)
    • 46300 (Sedatives/Antidepressants) used to be the code for sedatives/antidepressants. That's the one I used for antidepressants, however I see on are laptop it is shortened to just sedatives. I'm not sure that the code got changed or that when it was programmed on the laptop the antidepressant part got left outGHall 09:44, 2016 August 22 (CDT)
