Transfusion of FFP

From CCMDB Wiki
CCI Picklist
Procedure: Transfusion of FFP
CCI Picklist code: 1.LZ.19.HH-U2-J
CCI Collection Mode: CCI collect count units

This procedure is a part of CCI Collection via CCI Picklist.

Additional Info

  • Dr. Garland contacted Canadian Blood services - 250mL of FFP is counted as 1 unit and has 1 sticker. Therefore, count stickers if available, otherwise use the volume of FFP if that is all that is charted.
    • How would one derive a "count units" from the volume on the chart? e.g. if a pt got 25ml would you count that as a 0.1?

You asked me to put how to count this on your list at Task 2019-02-06

Transfusion Guidelines

  • Use transfusion codes once for each separate day that a transfusion happens.
  • For each such day, also code the number of units transfused as the Px Count
  • Definition of a single unit:
    • A single unit is what the blood bank (Canadian Blood Services) says it is. A single unit is accompanied by a single, unique sticker that is put by nursing on the Blood Products Administration Record in hospital charts.
    • So, the number of units you record should equal the number of stickers on the record.
