This page explains what will happen to old dx code entries when we move to the new ICD10/CCI model as part of Category:ICD10 Data Conversion.

Outcome

We will not map the data.

Reason to not convert

Excerpt from email from Dr Allan Garland, 2018-04-24

The issue comes in when a user wants to use data SPANNING the transition. The choices for such a use are:
(A) get what you want from the old data using the old schema and what you want from the new data using new schema;
(B) we create a mapping of the old to the new schema, and "translate" the old into the new coding schema so such users can use the new schema for both time periods.
BUT here is the problem: for a significant minority of diagnostic and procedure entities in the old schema there is no good mapping from the old to the new schema.
While option "B" seems easier, in fact it's rife with dangers as the user will need to be mindful and quite knowledgeable about the numerous specific entities for which the mapping is poor. On the other hand, option "A" is also a bit of a pain because such users will need to specify the codes they want in the old schema for the old data and in the new schema for the new data.
Because of the serious risks in blindly using a mapping (and the work involved with creating it), I think that "A" is the better choice

Everyone queried agreed to this.
