*Do you mean [[Primary Admit Diagnosis]]? But what if the fall isn't the main reason they are in hospital? Ttenbergen 21:52, 2018 October 15 (CDT)
*AG REPLY --- no.  the word "PRIMARY" here does not refer to the #1 admit dx, but instead refers to which of the 2 combo codes [the fall and the injury that occurred] is identified as the main/primary item.  I've changed the wording to avoid confusion.}}

So, in regard to a fall in hospital without an injury, use this code only if there was actual additional medical observation that resulted from the fall, e.g. an extra day in hospital.

*Out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded the same way.
*Out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded the same way.
*For out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission that did '''NOT''' cause an injury code '''[[Observation after accident/injury]]''' combined with '''[[Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)]]'''.
