The AP Sys BP data input field records systolic blood pressure collected as per the category:APACHE II Mean Blood Pressure Instructions.

Note: The BP items are separated here on the WIKI however, this does not mean that you pick a systolic value from one BP reading and a diastolic value from another BP reading when selecting worst BP for APACHE II.

This value is also used by the MOST score.

Discussion

  • Previously this read:
    • for MOST - Value selected is one that is "closest to the time" the medicine service physician "accepts" the patient to the medicine service from the emergency department.
  • There is a problem with that. If Julie has been using the AP Sys BP field then the instruction for collection would have been to follow the Mean BP. Are the instructions different for medicine and ICU?

Data Integrity Rules

The AP Sys BP must be >=25 And <=360.
