Starting Monday July 16, 2012, at the Grace, the emergency department will be using 10 beds on 4 South (S4).
The collectors will check this unit each time they are on shift. They will only enter a patient into the medicine database if the patient is "accepted" by a medicine attending physician. Accepted by Med service is the admit date to medicine service, but there may not be move date if patient stays the entire time under medicine service on S4.
Location entered will be the "service" physician ward that has accepted patient. This is same practive as other Grace medicine Overflows onto other wards.
If accepted to medicine service the "Admit From" will be ER.
In the comment section in CCMDB, you can note the entire LOS is on S4
At this point we are not sure if we are going to see an increase in Medicine service patient admissionat Grace site because of this. Will evaluate if there is increase in medicine admissions as we go.Trish Ostryzniuk 12:24, 2012 July 12 (CDT)
