Wiki emails

The wiki has a functionality to send emails to any registered user. For a list of all registered users, see the user list.

Do not ever email patient information via the wiki.

The wiki email functionality uses the wiki program itself to send an email. This means that any emails sent via the wiki travel without encryption through a U of M server, which is not PHIA compliant. To stick right to the rules, apparently patient data should simply not be emailed at all. However, the practice is common and seems to be generally accepted for small amounts of data, as long as the email doesn't leave the WRHA network (i.e. from work email account to work email account).

The email via the wiki functionality is meant to allow email communication among strangers while shielding the email address from spammers. It allows only logged in users to actually to send such emails while hiding the email address so it cannot be added to spam lists. As such, it is a good way to be able to list contact info in a public forum.
