Patients who are here on a '''student visa''' for 6 months or longer are eligible for health coverage under the province. see https://web.archive.org/web/20180114154123/https://www.gov.mb.ca/ie/study/medical.html (archived version, content no longer mentions medical insurance) For these, enter as you would a regular patient.

{{Discuss | There was an article about an international student who lost coverage on the news this week, and it sounded like it was back to private coverage. The page that this was originally linked to is no longer there. So, are international students still covered? And/or what does that have to do with their postal codes anyway? I can see that it might have to do with their [[PHIN]] and what we would enter there, but why is this here? [[User:Ttenbergen|Ttenbergen]] 10:58, 2021 July 14 (CDT)

**'''Changes to Health Insurance'''
As you may be aware, the Manitoba government has cancelled international student coverage under Manitoba Health effective September 1, 2018. Since the provincial announcement was made, we have been investigating how we can best support our international students during their studies at the University of Manitoba.
We are pleased to report that we have negotiated an international student health agreement with Blue Cross and StudentCare. Through this plan, international students will have access to the same coverage that they had under Manitoba Health. Enrolment in the plan will be mandatory for all registered undergraduate and graduate students. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the University will cover the costs of health care insurance for all registered degree students. Dependent and family coverage will be available for purchase for an additional cost; this cost will not be covered by the university.
