Central line days are taken from Central venous catheter (TISS Item) and CCI Procedure on any type of Central Venous Catheter, except Swan-Ganz (Pulmonary Artery Flotation) Catheter placement

Significance

Infection prevention and control unit tracks the central lines placements for CLABSI, quality improvement and resource utilization.

Inclusion Criteria

100% sampling for all patients with central line placements

Exclusion Criteria

Patients without central line placements

Frequency

Daily recording of dates a patient with central lines Total number of ICU patients and ICU days being on CRRT are calculated and reported on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis based on the daily data. Time Reference for month, quarter or year can be based on ICU admission dates or ICU discharge dates. For the CRRT Report , the calendar dates are used as the time of reference.

Data Sources

Daily data for CRRT is taken from the TISS item CRRT.

The TISS form was being marked daily by ICU bed side nurses and quality checked by the Database Data Collectors.

Starting Oct 1, 2020, the above TISS28 element is collected as part of the CCI Collection.
