Pre acute living situation field

Applicable for both ICU and Medicine

The pre_acute_living_situation field contains info about the living situation of the patient prior to the current hospitalization.

Collection Instruction

For each patient,

  • enter the option that most closely matches
  • if you know the situation but nothing on the list matches closely, enter 'other - known but not listed
  • if the situation is unknown, enter location missing/unknown

Question: Chronic Health Facility

Template:Discussion Some facilities have some chronic health, some personal care home, and some "other" type of accommodation. How should they be coded. Examples:

  • Deer Lodge Rehab
  • palliative ward and a long term ventilator ward at Riverview
  • PCH beds at Riverview
  • Deer Lodge has some geriatric

This was collected as part of Overstay_Predictor_Project_Collection_Instructions#.22From.22_Data previously and will be reported the same way going forward.

Some of the concepts were broken down further, such as homeless or institutionalized status, since these questions keep coming up.

Legacy

This field is part of the 2016 Time and Place changes.

For medicine this concept is related to Overstay "from" data.

For critical care this concept did not get collected prior to the 2016 Time and Place changes.
