- When a coronary artery stent is done, a coronary angiogram and angioplasty must first be done. If you code coronary artery stent alone, it is assumed that an angiogram and a plasty were also done so you can code all three or you can just code coronary artery stent to capture all three. This was verified in the Task Team on October 20th, 2015.
Do not use this code for stent insertions for which it does not apply. See Stent insertions for which we don't have a specific code.
other coding for stents?
- They are adding more vascular stents every day. Could we not make the vascular stents a generic group to capture these which are different from stents such as nephrostomy which don't involve the vascular system.
