*I have a question about patients who have probable perforated viscous and go to surgery for lap & repair, become hypotensive intra- or post-op.  They are usually given antibiotics on spec and may have negative post-op blood cultures or no blood culture sent since the bug is assumed from spillage of gut contents.  Do we enter the time of the pre-op antibiotic in the audit data?

In another situation, if the patient had another infection pre- the shock state & antibiotics are given with again a negative blood culture, so no change in antibiotic is made - do we use the time of the antibiotics given for the first infection? --[[User:Jpeterson|Jpeterson]] 10:33, 8 December 2009 (CST)
