Definition
- Number of patients refer to total unique patients occupying an ICU bed during a quarter period and includes the following:
- Patients admitted during the quarter period and discharged during the same quarter period
- Patients admitted during the quarter period and still in the unit at the last day of the quarter period
- Patients admitted before the quarter period and discharged during the quarter period
- Patients admitted before the quarter period and still in the unit at the last day of the quarter period
- Patient Days refer to the total days the patient is occupying an ICU bed during a quarter period.
- Partial days (i.e. Day of admission or discharged) are treated and counted as full days.
- Example . Admitted Sept 2, 2024 6:56 PM and Discharged Sept 4, 2024 10:15 am
