Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is a 252-bed facility that provides specialized inpatient mental health and acquired brain injury treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system.

Allan Garland checked with two physicians that work in area and decided that this should be treated as a Chronic Health Facility.

Collection Instructions

Code as follows:

  • I am unclear with these instructions, if indirect code as applicable? if we are using chronic care facility, like we do for Riverview and DLC, we have Riverview as an option for if they arrive as a direct or indirect, but now DLC and Selkirk mental health are not an option, shouldn't we be treating these all the same? There is a question on the Chronic Health Facility Lisa Kaita 17:50, 16 June 2025 (CDT)
    • I agree we should treat them the same. Also, there is now Eden Mental Health Centre in Winkler, which is listed together with Selkirk on the ALC form; we should likely treat it the same as well. Ttenbergen 22:30, 25 June 2025 (CDT)
