ICU Var 3 is used to track overflow patients at HSC and STB only.

Possible Values:

  • SR = surgical patient into Recovery Room - under sicu
    • 4 scenarios:
    1. Entire stay is in RR under SICU attending care.
    2. Before being transferred to SICU from RR a minimun time under SICU attending care in RR must be 2 hrs. or more to qualify as an overflow.
    3. Patient is transferred out of SICU into RR & is still under SICU care in RR before being transferred to the ward.
    4. Patient is transferred from SICU to RR then back to SICU. Note: This is not a new admission but should be tagged as an SR.
  • MR = medical patient into Recovery Room - under micu
  • CR = cardiac patient into Recovery Room – under ccu care
  • SU = surgical patient into IICU - under sicu care
  • MU = medical patient into IICU - under micu care
  • CU = cardiac patient into IICU - under ccu care
  • VM = cardiac sciences overflow into MICU - under CICU care
  • VS = cardiac sciences overflow into SICU - under CICU care
  • MC = medical patient into CCU – under micu care
  • SC = surgical patient into CCU – under sicu care

To do before de-stubbing

  • fix the names for CICU at StB, and are they still called cardiac care?
