This code is for a nontraumatic (pathologic) fracture of any vertebrae that is NOT due to neoplasm or osteoporosis.
It includes, but is not limited to, vertebral compression fracture (also called a wedge fracture because of its appearance on the lateral X-ray of the chest) that, again, isn't due to neoplasm or osteoporosis.
