Some data collectors are coding Obstructive Sleep Apnea as a comorbid under the main diagnosis-Respiratory: Restrictive Lung Disease. I have not been; and, I am wondering if all medicine and critical care data collectors are using this comorbid for OSA? -- Marie Laporte Dec 17.10.

    • Any chronic disorder that causes a decrease in the ability to expand the lungs or reduces lung volume I code here..Restrictive lung disease can be divided into 2 categories 1 Interstitial 2 Extra pulmonary restrictive Pickwickian Gullian Barre poliomyletis myasthenia gravis ,kyphosis,scoliosis fall under 2 restrictive lung disease Interstitial restrictive lung disease are things that have cased damage such as gases fumes poisons drugs.
