*As from task meeting minutes:
[[Category:ICD10 wiki infrastructure]]
**Falls in hospital should only be coded if they cause an injury, and in that case code the injury, with [[Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)]]
**Falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded exactly as above.
**For falls that are a reason for admission that did NOT cause an injury AND the cause was found, code the cause, not the fall(s).
**For falls that are a reason for admission that did NOT cause an injury and the cause was NOT found, code this as a combination of [[Observation for reason NOS]] and [[Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)]]

*Only code in-hospital falls IF THEY CAUSE AN INJURY, and in that case code the associated mechanism of injury as '''[[Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)]]'''
*Out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission, that caused an injury should be coded the same way.
*For out-of-hospital falls that are a reason for admission that did '''NOT''' cause an injury --> code '''[[Observation after accident/injury]]''' combined with '''[[Mechanism of injury: fall or jump (not necessarily from a height)]]'''.
