You can make an article under one name whose only job is to open up another article. For example, if you wanted
To redirect a page on the wiki you would type:
#redirect: [[article name]]
Redirects are used:
- if you want to make sure an article is found if a user is looking for it under a different name; for example, there is a redirect article for Mi to Myocardial infarction
- to overcome Things that a wiki search won't find, e.g. the concept you are looking for has only three letters; since the wiki search won't list anything for search entries <= 3 letters, generating an article of that name will redirect to the required article, e.g. VAP will redirect to Pneumonia, ventilator-associated (VAP)
- if an article is moved in the wiki, a redirect from the old name to the new one is automatically generated to make sure links from other articles still work; ideally we don't want these redirects, see Renaming or deleting a page on the wiki for details.
