The Critical Care database counts the laboratory tests listed at S_AllLabs for every patient for their entire LOS in a unit. Different collection of labs is collected at HSC than elsewhere. Some lab data at HSC is imported directly.

Lab Collection Process

  • For every ICU patient,
    • for every laboratory test on S_AllLabs
      • locate the specific lab,
      • enter the number of times the test was performed
    • if a patient has no labs by the end of their stay:

enter a date and leave zeros under all the labs.

      • if a culture is taken but the sample was inadequate to produce a result, the culture is still counted under lab counts.

  • albumin 25%
  • albumin 5%
  • Packed cells
  • Platelets
  • FFP
  • Pentaspan
  • Voluven
  • Angio coronary
  • Angio other
  • CXR
  • CT scan
  • MRI
  • U/S echo
  • U/S abd
  • ABG
  • CBC
  • PT/PTT
  • Creatinine
  • Magnesium
  • SGPT (ALT)
  • Troponin
  • Blood cultures
  • Sputum cultures
  • Urine cultures
