Lab Collection Process
- For every ICU patient,
- for every qualifying laboratory test
- locate the specific lab, enter the number of times the test was performed
- if a culture is taken but the sample was inadequate to produce a result, the culture is still counted under lab counts
- for platelets, one bag hung as indicated on the TISS is equal to 5 platelet units in the lab count.
- if a patient has no labs by the end of their stay, enter a date and leave zeros under all the labs
- for every qualifying laboratory test
