** Let's add a different DX code for ECMO VA. 76341 is unused and in the same "other" grouping. Could also split out a new code for ECMO VV to make clear that the old code was undifferentiated, and to keep their code numbers grouped together. Additional Data Request
There is a request from Dr. Manji to add a subdivision that says veno-artetial (VA) ECMO and veno-venous (VV) ECMO. -Trish Ostryzniuk 19:25, 2014 December 8 (CST)
We discussed this at the task meeting today. Determined that it would be easy to implement input and storage for the data (use a new code for both and retire the old one). Need to confirm following before implementation:
- Laura: would this be collectable? IE. is the information to make the determination whethcer ECMO was VV or VA always straightforward from the record, even without being able to ask for confirmation? If so, we will implement. Ttenbergen 14:15, 2015 July 9 (CDT)
- ICMS at STB only keeps VV ecmo patients. If a patient has AV ecmo inserted then they are readily transported to the Cardiac ICU. I would be able to differentiate these. It is collectable, how do you want us to document this?--LKolesar 07:59, 2015 July 20 (CDT)
- Let's add a different DX code for ECMO VA. 76341 is unused and in the same "other" grouping. Could also split out a new code for ECMO VV to make clear that the old code was undifferentiated, and to keep their code numbers grouped together. Ttenbergen 10:58, 2015 July 20 (CDT)
