APACHE II has its own diagnostic categories with assigned weights that are used in a formula to predict risk of death. The Regional Database Diagnostic Codes have been mapped to these APACHE II Diagnostic Categories.

    • The ICU/Medicine database diagnostic codes have been mapped to the APACHE II categories by Dr. Carla Chrusch with some help from Trish in 2003 then Kendiss Olafson with Julie in 2005.
