ICU Var 2 is currently used to tag only cardiac arrests that have the BRR cooling protocol applied in their unit.
Cardiac Arrest Cooling Protocol: the target is to lower body temperature to the 32-34 C degree range.
ICU Var 2 BRR is not to be coded when a cooling protocol is used to normalize temperature for non-arrested patients.
