This applies to the APACHE II ARF checkbox only.

To put a checkmark in Acute Renal Failure (ARF) checkbox for ICU APACHE, a patient must meet both of the following criteria:

  • for 8 hrs consecutively in the first 24 hrs of ICU admission:
    • creatinine > 133 mmols and
    • urine < 135 cc

  • also see CRF for Diagnosis coding
  • also see ARI for Diagnosis coding
