Sputum C+S

Template:Discussion A discussion took place at Oct 6.14 Collection team meeting in regards to what was included i.e. just culture and sensitivity of sputum and tracheal secretions or is AFB included and BAL? Are viral cultures included?

• Dr. Allan Garland advised to bring to ICU Task Group team meeting Nov 6.14 to revisit what ICU wants counted here. Hallway discussion did not come to agreement today.Trish Ostryzniuk 18:33, 2014 October 6 (CDT)
• Some collectors included AFB and BAL counts and sputum sent Cadham lab for viral under C+S counts, others do not include AFB, BAL and virals sent to Cadham lab.
• Some collectors count only if they reports in the chart or on EPR.
• Some count lab tests retrospectively, after discharge, others keep counts up each week rather than waiting for discharge.
