Goodpasture syndrome (GPS) is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack the basement membrane in lungs and kidneys, leading to bleeding from the lungs and kidney failure.
It was formally called Anti-glomerular basement disease (anti-GBM).
It is a cutaneous small-vessel vasculitis (capillaritis).
It, along with Wegener's granulomatosis are the two most common causes of a pulmonary-renal syndrome.
