LVAD patients

  • Comorbid of Heart assist device, has one

paired with reason for LVAD e.g. any of the cardiomyopathies, heart failure, NOS

  • is used temporarily to assist in cardiogenic shock
  • is used as a bridge to cardiac transplant
  • can be implanted in the left or right ventricle, or in both ventricles
  • most commonly used at STB is the Heartmate III
