STB MICU Collection Guide
This article contains collection information specific to the MICU/SICU at St Boniface.
Template:Discussion - needs input to include any information that would be helpful as a guide for anyone who picks up shift in STB MI/SI unit.
- STB MICU/SICU also called ICMS, this unit includes medical, surgical and cardiac patients. See Registry Patient Type and Site and Location for information specific to the cardiac service care patients in the STB MICU/SICU unit
Medical type patients are those under medical service and may have come from a medical ward or from ER or from outside of the hospital. The medical wards at STB include E5, B5, E6, A6. The surgical type patients are those that are admitted directly from the OR, PARR or any surgical ward. The surgical wards in SBGH are: CR4 cardiac surgery ward, 2B day surg, 4B gyne, 4A surg, 7AS & 7AW. When a pt is admitted from CR5 (CICU) this pt is deemed a surgical type (not cardiac). The individual charts are kept at each specific bedside along with the tiss sheets. The green sheets are kept on the rounds cart. The completed tiss sheets are kept in a marked binder at the main desk. There is a sheet in the ICMS data collector's binder that has a record of VAP and line sepsis cases. This information is kept and is shared with the charge nurse and Lillian Hall for ongoing quality control.
