Trauma post-op vs non post-op

In HSC_ICU_Collection_Guide#HSC_SICU_Collection_Guide it said

"Patients who go to the OR during the SICU are not transferred out or have any time recorded related to this unless they do not return to the SICU."

• If this is true it is likely not only for HSC SICU. Is this true for all Critical Care? Is it even true for Medicine? Is there maybe an article addressing this already? I was unable to find it... Ttenbergen 22:39, 2013 August 26 (CDT)Template:Discussion

"A trauma patient who has an injury that is not initially treated e.g. subdural hematoma non-post-op MVA, but subsequently has this evacuated in the OR will have that coded as a complication under Trauma, but now as post-op."

• Is this specific to trauma? Likely would be true for any dx caused by a OR visit during admission, no? Ttenbergen 22:43, 2013 August 26 (CDT)Template:Discussion
