This article contains collection information specific to the MICU/SICU at St Boniface. STB MICU/SICU also called ICMS, this unit includes medical, surgical and cardiac patients.
Please make sure you document information at the most general level that is applicable, i.e. don't code something that affects all collection at StB in the program or unit level articles.
See the following for more general information:
Unit admission log book
- The admission/discharge log book is found at the main desk near where the ward clerk usually sits.
Ward contacts
Donna Lee Bean is the PTM Marlene Ash is the CRN on days Lynn Scott is the CRN on evenings James Danelle is the Educator These are the main contacts in the unit that will be helpful.
Collector "base"
- Usually we can utilize the desk that is east of the main desk in the unit. This desk is also utilized by some consultants and pharmacy but it is an excellent space and there are also computers on the desk that we can use for EPR.
Location of patient chart components
The individual charts are kept at each specific bedside along with the tiss sheets. The green sheets are kept on the rounds cart. The completed tiss sheets are kept in a marked binder at the main desk. There is a sheet in the ICMS data collector's binder that has a record of VAP and line sepsis cases. This information is kept and is shared with the charge nurse and Lillian Hall for ongoing quality control.
- As of January, 2013, all chart information is found in the Electronic Patient Record for MICU except: The nurses flow sheets, OR records, ER records, Echo Reports, Endoscopy reports, heart cath. reports, central line insertion sheets, blood product sheets. (These items are still part of the paper chart). --LKolesar 11:42, 2013 May 6 (EDT)
