To put a checkmark in Acute Renal Failure (ARF) checkbox for ICU APACHE, a patient must meet both of the following criteria:

• for 8 hrs consecutively in the first 24 hrs of ICU admission:
  • creatinine > 133 mmols and
  • urine < 135 cc

• a patient who has a comorbid diagnosis Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) should not have a checkmark in this checkbox.
