Date/Time stamps on the wiki

Sometimes the time stamps generated on the wiki by using ~~~~ are not what one would expect.

There are two reasons for this: the "offset" from Universal time as set in your preferences can be wrong or the actual time on the server can be wrong.

Offset wrong

If only the offset is wrong, the hours will be off, usually by 6 or 7, but the minutes will be pretty much right. To check if the offset is correct see My Preferences in the wiki#Date and Time.

Wrong server time

The clock on the server that our wiki sits on seems to go wrong every once in a while. If you have confirmed that the Offset is correct, and you still get a wrong time when you sign a comment with ~~~~, then the time on the server is likely wrong.

If this the case we need to contact the hosting provider.
