note
- It is incorrect to classify placenta previa as a postpartum hemmorrhage. It should be listed as part of peripartum problems instead.
Once a patient is postpartum, the placenta is usually no longer present and therefore this is incorrect classification.
- Placenta previa, if complete, is an indication for a C-section.
- If bleeding occurs because of a placenta previa, this is during the pregnancy, not postpartum.--LKolesar 12:50, 2015 August 26 (CDT)
