This is almost about [[Concept:Chronic Kidney Disease]], but because of the ambiguous [[Kidney, renal failure/insufficiency/uremia, unspecified as acute or chronic]] the concept can not be used to define this. 

== change in stage during admission ==
There was a question whether a pt could have several stages during acquired. This is not the case. AG: While one could have a lower level as a comorbid, and be admitted with what is finally decided to be an advancement of CRF (so that an admit dx is a higher level), in many cases what you'll have is some degree of CRF + an AKI on top of it.  It's important to distinguish between these.
