TISS therapeutic variables: T26 to T40
T29 to T32 are mutually exclusive. Select only ONE item per day that will give you the most points.

- Points in this group are in descending order, i.e 29 gives the most.
- T26 - header row label so not on form
- T27 - blank on TISS form as of May 2000 however data in that row remains in ICU database. See: TISS76-Legacy
- T28 - blank on TISS form (not data in database. See: TISS76-Legacy
- T29 A/C, SIMV, PSV with intermittent or continuous muscle relaxant/sedation. See: TISS76-Legacy
- T30 A/C, SIMV, PSV without muscle relaxant/sedation. See: TISS76-Legacy
- T31 Spontaneous CPAP or BIPAP
- UPDATE: JUNE 15.10: NONIVASIVE (non ETtubed)CPAP/BIPAP should only be included for this item.-TOstryzniuk 20:11, 15 June 2010 (CDT)
- Legacy: TISS, CPAP had included both invasive (ETtubed) and noninvasive (non ETtube) mechanical ventilation. BIPAP is noninvasive (no ETtube) mechanical ventilation.
- T32 Spontaneous Resp per E-T tube or Trach
- T33 Intubation - nasal or tracheal (perform in the ICU)
- T34 Fresh tracheostomy (first 48 hours). Also see: TISS76-48 hour rule.
- T35 Tracheostomy care (over 48 hours). Also see: TISS76-48 hour rule.
- T36 Chest Physio - check only if done by ICU nurse or assisting Physio staff. Active in the processing.
- T37 Incentive spirometry Inhalation therapy **Don’t forget Ventolin per mask.
- T38 Tracheal suctioning of non-intubated patients
- T39 Oxygen by mask or nasal prongs
- T40 Chest tubes
